I want to go to heaven one day,

But what if I don't?

God makes it clear in His Word that we can KNOW that we have eternal life. He does not want us to die without Him. In fact, God lays out the perfect road map to understanding how we can know for sure that we are on our way to Heaven.

II Peter 3:9
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

I John 5:13
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

God makes it clear in His Word that we can KNOW that we have eternal life. He does not want us to die without Him. In fact, God gives us the steps in His Word, so we can know we have eternal life.

II Peter 3:9
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

There is a Price for Sin
Romans 6:23a
“For the wages of sin is death…”
The next step is realizing that your sin comes with a penalty. The Bible says that the penalty for sin is not only physical, but is also a spiritual death. The eternal penalty for our sin is death in a place called Hell.

Jesus Paid that Price
Romans 5:8
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Jesus Christ died on the Cross, was buried, and rose again so that we could have eternal life. Because Jesus paid for our sins, He can offer us the gift of eternal life.
Romans 6:23b
“… but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

That Payment is Available to all
Romans 10:9
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
The final step is realizing that you must believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and receive His payment for your sin.

Everyone is a Sinner
Romans 3:23
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
The first step, is to realize that you're a sinner. The word “all” includes you and me. No one can live a perfect life and, therefore, we all fall short of God’s glory.

II Peter 3:9
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

Pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus,
I know I’m a sinner, and that I can not get to heaven on my own. I know you came to earth to die, be buried, and rise again for my sin. I receive your free gift of eternal life today. Thank you Jesus for dying for me. Amen.”
